The project concerns the renovation of an apartment in Kolonaki with a more contemporary approach, while still preserving certain classic elements. Given the large scale of the apartment, particular emphasis was placed on reconfiguring it to ensure optimal use of space that meets the needs of a four-member family.
The design strategy aimed at redistributing the spaces so as to create a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet, two bedrooms sharing a bathroom, and a large open-plan kitchen–dining–living area. Based on the new layout, the apartment now consists of three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a unified and bright living area, and a laundry closet positioned along the corridor leading to the rooms.
The overall aesthetic of the apartment is minimal with modern touches. The dark wood proposed for the flooring and for various custom or loose furniture pieces brings a sense of warmth and luxury. The choice of white lacquer for the kitchen cabinetry, combined with the white walls, adds depth to the living area and allows natural light to diffuse through the large openings. The use of marble on selected surfaces introduces a sense of grandeur reminiscent of traditional Kolonaki apartments.
